Solutions for the Future

The government and the private sector must continue to implement programs that develop rural infrastructure. In 1981 the Philippines Rural Infrastructure Projects (PRIP) were implemented to contruct roads in various rural areas of the country. This project was funded by the World Bank. In 1986 the Second Rural Roads Improvement Project (SRRIP), another project funded by the World Bank. There have also been numerous programs that aimed at maximizing the utilization of labour based equipment supported methods on infrastructure projects as a means of alleviating severe unemployment problems. More recently, the National Government has implemented  labour-based projects infrastructure programs to support employment generation efforts.

The overflow of people in urban centres of the Philippines such as Manila, is leaving people jobless and homeless. The majority of the population in Manila was not born there and arrive expecting better working conditions and living conditions but are forced to stay because they cannot support their families living in rural areas of the countries. To slow the rise in population there must be poverty reduction, education and reproductive counselling. Solutions for the future must also include:
    - Incentive for people in stay in rural areas and to do this they must develop infrastructure and job oppurtunities in these areas
